Things we think about between campfires.
Stories, tips, and field notes from Abby and the Dame Lodge community.
Why we write.
Abby started Dame Lodge because she believed adult women deserved better infrastructure for joy and friendship. This blog is an extension of that belief, a place for honest writing about friendship, play, and the parts of life that tend to get buried under everything else. Eventually, it'll include stories from Lodge Weekends, dispatches from the community, and voices beyond just Abby's. For now, it's her, telling the truth about why any of this matters.
The wellness industry owes you an apology
You track your sleep. You take your magnesium. You time your protein within 30 minutes of your workout because you read something about it once and now you can't unread it. You are optimizing, constantly, and by every measurable standard you're doing great.
So why doesn't it feel like you're well enough?
The Adult Friendship Playbook
Adult friendships don't "just happen" anymore. You probably already know this. You moved cities, changed jobs, got busy with life. The built-in social infrastructure of your hometown and college disappeared, and suddenly you're supposed to maintain friendships through... what, exactly? Sporadic coffee dates? Annual catch-ups? Texting "we should hang out soon" and never actually scheduling it?
The campfire doesn't have to go out.
